Multiclass in EverQuest Legends
EverQuest Legends lets you combine up to three classic EverQuest classes into a single adventurer. Instead of locking into one role at character creation, you stack abilities from Warrior, Cleric, Paladin, Shadow Knight, Ranger, Rogue, Monk, Bard, Beastlord, Wizard, Magician, Necromancer, Enchanter, Druid, Shaman, and Berserker. Your combo defines whether you solo efficiently, charm mobs for explosive DPS, or anchor a full group through Crushbone and Lower Guk.
Every class retains its identity from classic Norrath. Warriors still taunt and absorb damage. Clerics still resurrect and spike-heal. Enchanters still charm, haste, and crowd control. The difference is synergy: a Shadow Knight adds lifetaps to Shaman slows, while a Monk adds sustained melee DPS on top of both. Use our Class Combo Tier List and Class Combo Builder once you understand each class role.
Tanks: Warrior, Paladin, Shadow Knight
Warrior is the pure plate tank — defensive disciplines, taunt control, and the safest option for holding aggro in dungeons like Crushbone or Nagafen's Lair. Paladin blends tanking with self-heals, stuns, and holy utility, making Paladin hybrids strong for players who want survivability without a dedicated healer slot. Shadow Knight is the dark knight: lifetaps, DoTs, fear, and pet summoning. SKs excel in charm trios because they self-sustain while an Enchanter controls mobs and a Shaman slows and heals.
Tank classes pair well with Cleric or Shaman for healing and Enchanter for charm DPS. The classic Warrior / Cleric / Enchanter combo is one of the most durable group setups in the game. For solo progression, Shadow Knight hybrids frequently rank at the top of the best solo builds list.
Healers and Support: Cleric, Druid, Shaman, Enchanter, Bard
Cleric is the primary healer with the strongest direct heals and resurrection — essential for serious dungeon and raid content. Druid offers nature heals, DoTs, outdoor tracking, and powerful teleportation ports that shorten travel across Antonica, Faydwer, and Odus. Shaman is the backbone of many top combos: slows, cannibalize, buffs, and solid healing make Shaman / Enchanter pairs the foundation of charm trios.
Enchanter is the crowd-control and charm specialist. Charm DPS is among the highest damage in EverQuest Legends when paired with slows and a durable front line. Bard adds songs for haste, mana regen, run speed, and charm support — excellent in groups but less common in pure three-class min-max combos. Support classes define whether your group cruises through Mistmoore or struggles on every pull in Lower Guk.
Melee DPS: Monk, Rogue, Ranger, Berserker, Beastlord
Monk delivers the highest sustained unarmed melee DPS and pairs famously with Shaman and Enchanter for fast leveling. Rogue specializes in backstab burst and evasion — strong in skilled hands but less forgiving than Monk for all-purpose solo play. Ranger combines archery, dual wield, and nature spells with tracking utility across outdoor zones like North Ro and Toxxulia Forest.
Berserker is a two-handed frenzy dealer built for raw damage — less mitigation than Warrior but excellent when you already have healing covered. Beastlord merges pet combat with shaman-style slows and melee, creating a self-contained hybrid that performs well solo and in small groups. Melee DPS classes shine when combined with at least one sustain class from the healer or hybrid pool.
Casters and Pet Masters: Wizard, Magician, Necromancer
Wizard is the pure nuker — burst damage, teleportation, and unmatched single-target spell power at range. Wizards need protection in dungeons but dominate open-world pulls when kiting. Magician summons elemental pets with damage shields and strong sustained DPS, making Magician / Cleric or Magician / Shaman combos popular for pet-heavy playstyles.
Necromancer combines DoTs, lifetaps, and undead pets for one of the most self-sufficient caster experiences in Norrath. Necromancer / Druid stacks offer superior mobility through Druid ports while maintaining pet and DoT pressure. Casters generally require more gear and knowledge than melee hybrids but scale powerfully into endgame zones like Cazic-Thule and Nagafen's Lair.
Choosing Your First Combo
Start by deciding your playstyle: safe solo leveling, charm-heavy DPS, or group-focused support. New players who want a forgiving experience often pick Warrior / Cleric / Enchanter or Shadow Knight / Shaman / Enchanter. Players who prefer speed over safety may lean toward Monk / Shaman / Enchanter. Read the tier list for current meta rankings, but remember that EverQuest Legends is in beta and balance may shift before launch.
All sixteen classes are viable when combined thoughtfully. Review race restrictions in our class data, experiment in the combo builder, and cross-reference zone difficulty on the world map before committing to a final build for your Norrath journey.
