Travel in Classic Norrath Still Matters
EverQuest Legends kept boat routes, druid ports, and long outdoor runs. A mount does not skip continents — it shortens the walk between a bind point and a camp. Until August 18 the practical speed buff most players used was Spirit of the Wolf (SoW) from a Shaman, Druid, or a potion, not a dedicated mount slot.
Plan travel with the world map first. A mount will not replace a wizard port to Toxxulia or a boat to Butcherblock.
August 18, 2026 — Bristly Boar in the Shop
Massively Overpowered and the official Discord preview confirm a Bristly Boar mount lands in the Iridium shop on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. Speed is described as roughly the same as Spirit of the Wolf — convenience and looks, not a faster endgame movement tier. It is unique to EverQuest Legends, not a classic EQ1 horse copy.
This is a cash-shop cosmetic/utility item. It does not raise merge ranks, mote caps, or raid DPS. Read in-game shop and August live updates before you spend IR you wanted for a loadout slot.
When a Mount Is Worth Iridium
Buy the boar if you already have three loadout slots, enough bag space, and you run long outdoor circuits without a SoW buddy. Skip it if you still need a Class Unlock Token or you live in instanced dungeons where mounts do not apply. Group XP on August 18 helps more than a mount if you are still leveling through the twenties.
Kerran starters on Kerra Isle and Mistmoore farmers after the revamp will feel the walk the most. Pair with group play so someone in the party can still SoW the group if you skip the shop.
