Classic Vampire Castle on Faydwer
Castle Mistmoore sits in the Lesser Faydark hills on Faydwer — the mid-level vampire keep every classic EverQuest player remembers. In Legends it is a roughly 25–35 dungeon with D0–D4 scaling and personal loot, sitting between Crushbone/Blackburrow and Lower Guk or Cazic-Thule. Dark-elf faction, haste-friendly melee weapons, and caster focus items still define the loot table.
Travel from Kelethin through Greater Faydark, or boat from Antonica via Butcherblock. Bind at the zone safe point before you start named rotations. Pair this page with dungeons & raids, group play, and best gear by level.
August 18, 2026 Revamp — What Changes
Game Jawn’s Discord preview for Tuesday, August 18, 2026 lists three player-facing Mistmoore changes:
- Guaranteed named spawns — named vampires and officers no longer hide behind long placeholder chains the way they did in the first three live weeks
- Loot table refresh — more Motes of Potential and higher-quality mid-level gear on the personal loot table
- Daytime aggro relief — courtyard and outer-hall mobs are less aggressive during daylight, so pickup groups can form without eating a six-add train at the door
Treat this as a mid-level farm reset, not a new expansion. Nektropos Castle remains a fall mini-expansion on the roadmap. Track official wording on August live updates and patch notes.
Camps, Difficulty, and Group Comp
Run D0–D1 solo or duo to learn hall links. Push D2–D4 with a four-player party once the August 18 named guarantee is live — that is when mote-per-hour jumps. A tank, Cleric or Shaman, Enchanter, and flex DPS still clears the keep fastest. Charm trios can hold outer courtyards; inner crypts punish missing mez.
After July 29, loot rolls at your difficulty tier with a diminishing chance upward. Do not sit D0 expecting D4 vampire jewelry. See difficulty scaling and instances & lockouts.
When to Leave Mistmoore
Leave when your XP bar and merge fodder both stall — usually the mid-thirties — and rotate to Splitpaw, Lower Guk, or Cazic-Thule. Keep Mistmoore on the weekly calendar after August 18 if you still need motes or a specific named drop. Upcoming Rujarkian Hills is a later open-world destination, not a Mistmoore replacement.
