Looks Without Giving Up Your Merge
Armor ornamentations are appearance items you insert into equipped gear so a robe can look like a chestplate — or chain arms can sit on monk arms — without replacing the merged stats underneath. That matters in Legends because a +8 or +9 merge is expensive: you do not want to vendor a BiS chest just to wear a prettier model.
The system is cosmetic. It does not add AC, resists, or spell ranks. Pair it with item merging and best gear by level so you upgrade numbers first, then dress the piece.
August 4, 2026 — Slot Compatibility Fix
The August 4, 2026 Natch Potes notes fixed ornamentations that would not insert into certain item types — official examples include chain arms on monk arms and robes on chestplates. If an ornament sat in your bag unused through launch week, try it again after that patch.
If a slot still rejects the ornament, confirm you are targeting the equipped piece (not a bag copy) and that the ornament matches the armor family the tooltip lists. See patch notes and August live updates.
Where Ornamentations Drop and How to Spend Them
Ornamentations drop from mid-level and raid named, vendor collections, and occasional shop cosmetics. Do not spend Iridium on a look you will replace after one Mistmoore circuit. Prioritize ornaments for slots you already merged: chest, legs, and primary weapon skins if your loadout uses a visible two-hander.
Multiclass loadouts can show different models per preset. Swap in town, then confirm the ornament stayed attached — the August 4 Kerran texture fix was a related first-swap bug, not an ornament bug, but both bite players who change race or armor type for the first time. Loadouts, UI.
