Three UI Skins at Launch
EverQuest Legends ships with three complete UI skins that change window frames, color palettes, and font styling without altering gameplay mechanics. Choose the look that matches your nostalgia level or modern monitor setup:
- Classic dark stone — deep gray stone textures reminiscent of late-era classic EverQuest windows, ideal for veterans who want familiar borders on a 4K display
- Classic light stone — brighter stone frames for well-lit rooms and streamers who need readable UI elements on camera
- Modern minimalist — clean flat panels with reduced ornamentation, tighter spacing, and higher information density for experienced players
All three skins support the same window layout, hotbar pages, and scaling options introduced during the July 2026 beta. Launch shipped UI scale 1–5. The August 18, 2026 preview adds 0.25 scale steps and a resizable in-game mouse cursor so 4K players can actually see the pointer. Confirm those options in Options the morning the Tuesday patch ships — August live updates.
Loading UI Skins
Switch skins through the in-game menu: open Options → Interface → Load UI, then select modern, dark, or light. The client applies the skin immediately without relogging. Your hotbar bindings, window positions, and loadout presets persist across skin changes because only visual assets swap — not saved layout data.
First-time players should load modern for the clearest spell book and stance bar layouts, then experiment with stone skins once comfortable with combat flow. Import and export UI layouts through the same Options menu if you want community-shared configurations. Pair skin selection with our controls and keybinds guide for a complete setup before leaving your starting city.

Actions Window and Macro Improvements
The July 14, 2026 patch overhauled the Actions window macros tab: the list is now scrollable and searchable, fixing a beta pain point where large macro libraries overflowed off-screen. Type partial names to filter macros instantly instead of hunting through hundreds of entries.
Macros still support slash commands, spell gems, and social actions. Drag filtered results directly onto hotbars. The searchable tab pairs well with multiclass loadouts — maintain separate macro sets per loadout and find them quickly when swapping between tank, heal, and DPS presets in cities. See multiclass loadouts for swap rules.
Stance Bar, Invocation Bar, and Spell Book UI
Legends adds dedicated UI for stances and invocations — melee-caster hybrid tools covered in our stances and invocations guide. The stance bar displays active combat posture; the invocation bar tracks cooldown-based hybrid abilities separate from standard spell gems.
The spell book received upgrade UI integration: right-click and hold a scribed spell to open tier investment, with mote costs visible inline. Upgraded spells show tier badges in the book grid. This UI connects directly to the spell upgrades guide — configure your skin first, then learn the book gestures so tier borders and red-bordered motes in inventory are easy to spot during dungeon runs.
