September 1, 2026 — Patch Notes

EverQuest Legends September patch cycle opened with a significant Plane of Sky loot update on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. Official notes posted on everquestlegends.com and Discord #natch-potes.

Plane of Sky — Bonus Quest Loot for All Loadout Classes

The headline change: Players can now receive bonus quest loot drops in the Plane of Sky for the classes in their current loadout. Drops go into your Personal Loot pool and are affected by loot filters such as auto-store and auto-destroy.

The bonus applies to all enemies that drop items used in Plane of Sky class quests — except for the lettered "Wind Rune" items. This means main bosses, Efreeti, and even regular enemies needed for specific drops on Islands 6 and 7 all qualify.

Bonus drops are not guaranteed but carry separate chances for all classes in your loadout — meaning you can occasionally see three additional items added to your personal loot for a single kill. This is a major quality-of-life change for players running multiple class combinations through the Plane.

Pair this with our Plane of Fear and Plane of Hate pages for the full launch-endgame planar content.

Loadout Improvements — Gender, Face, and Eyes

Two loadout quality-of-life additions shipped September 1:

  • You can now change your gender as part of configuring a loadout.
  • Your currently selected face and eyes now save and can be stored as part of Loadouts.

These changes let you personalize appearance per loadout without creating separate characters. See multiclass and loadouts for the full loadout system guide.

General — Levitation Descent Rate

Levitation spells have had their descent rate adjusted to be consistent when slowly floating down. This resolves the frustrating "drift landing" behavior where levitating characters descended at unpredictable speeds.

Achievements — Kerran Progress and Inaccessible Zones

Several achievement changes:

  • Kerran now count for the "Not a Kerran the World!" Achievement.
  • Various Achievements are now marked optional that are not completable in the current expansion.
  • Achievements relating to Freeport Sewers, Jaggedpine Forest, Caverns of Exile, and Nedaria's Landing are no longer active as those zones are inaccessible.
  • The achievement Hunter of Toxxulia Forest is no longer active as it no longer has any valid targets.

AAs — Full Potential at Level 50, Mount Refunds

Full Potential will now autogrant at level 50. If you previously did not receive this AA, swap to any level 50 Loadout and zone to collect it.

Valiant Steed and Abyssal Steed AA abilities have been removed and the points refunded to all players who had these abilities. Existing items have been converted into Holy Steed and Unholy Steed items respectively.

See alternate advancement for AA planning context.

Zones — NPC Fixes

Minor population fixes shipped September 1:

  • Fixed an issue where 3 NPCs in North Ro were flagged as named despite being regular Troopers.
  • Malloy the Songbird in West Freeport no longer is tagged as a rare creature.
  • Clockwork XIVB in Akanon should no longer show up as a humanoid.

Items — Beastlord Weapon, Ornamentation, Brooches

  • Enchanted Fine Steel Morning Star is now usable by Beastlords.
  • Added a missing ornamentation socket to Ancient Spurned Waistcoat.
  • Various Brooch rewards from Rathe Mountains Froglok quest lines no longer have a level requirement.

Spells — Improved Stacking, Dispel Targeting

Improved spell stacking prevents detrimental spells from overwriting beneficial buffs when they impact — Hastes vs Slows, Movement Speed Buffs vs Snares, Heal-Over-Time vs Damage-Over-Time. In addition, detrimental spells will no longer strip beneficial spells from players when they contain the same effect type.

Dispel spells are now treated as detrimental for targeting in Spellblade procs.

See spell upgrades for tiering context.

Stances & Invocations — SpellBlade 2-Second Margin

The SpellBlade Invocation has been updated to work within a 2-second margin. For example: if a spell's cast time is 4 seconds and its re-use time is 6 seconds, this is a valid spell for SpellBlade.

UI — Checkbox Wrapping, Camera Toggle, Combat Exit

  • Fixed an issue where some checkboxes and labels were word wrapping too soon when using fractional scaling.
  • Right-clicking on the spell gem in the actions window now operates the same as right-clicking elsewhere in the list, with an upgrade hint added to the description section.
  • Added a toggle to smooth out camera motion while in first person mode.
  • Fixed an issue where an improper message would appear when trying to leave an instance in combat.

September 2, 2026 — Hotfix

A small hotfix shipped September 2, 2026:

  • Fixed a rare client crash.
  • Nameplate/Extended target window will no longer show you as having aggro while feigned death or if enemies have forgotten you.
  • Fixed an issue with the Monk AA Unbound Alacrity (+10% overhaste).
